VistaZ Power

VistaZ Power — Product Datasheet

Product Overview

VistaZ Power is CoolR's slim, always-on smart camera designed for retail coolers and freezers. It draws primary power directly from the cooler's DC supply and automatically switches to an internal battery backup during power interruptions — ensuring uninterrupted image capture and telemetry without manual intervention.

VistaZ Power is part of the StoreAware platform and delivers images and telemetry directly into sales workflows and automated replenishment systems.

Power

VistaZ Power connects to the cooler's DC supply via the standard pigtail power harness (Cable 002) — a factory-terminated barrel jack cable supplied with every unit.

Standard DC barrel connector and VistaZ Power pigtail harness (Cable 002)

Power Consumption Characteristics

Recommended input voltage range: 7–24 V DC. 5 V operation is supported as a constrained case only up to the standard Cable 002 harness rating and is therefore not recommended for normal installations. The device features automatic battery failover on power loss and automatic recharge on power restoration. The max input current and power values below are for supply sizing and worst-case input draw, not typical continuous consumption.

Measurement Methodology

  1. Input voltage supplied using a regulated power supply (RPS) at 5 V, 7 V, 12 V, and 24 V.
  2. Device current and voltage measured using a Joulescope precision analyzer connected in series with the input supply.
  3. Measurement duration: 24 hours continuous operation.
  4. Testing includes normal operation with idle, image capture, cellular/LTE transmission cycles and battery charging.
  5. Device configuration: Captures 2 images per day.

Note: Energy consumption increases with higher input voltage due to conversion losses.

Installation Instructions

VistaZ Power installation requires DC power connection and physical mounting. The device is designed for both horizontal (chest freezer) and vertical (glass door cooler) configurations.

Safety Notes (Mandatory)

⚠ Disconnect DC power before wiring. ⚠ Use insulated tools and ESD protection. ⚠ Verify voltage and polarity before plug-in.

Installation — Horizontal (Chest Freezer)

Installation — Vertical (Glass Door Cooler)

Step 1: Wiring and Cable Routing Through Door Gasket

Images 1–2: Disconnect the existing LED strip connector, then inspect the connector and confirm the wire polarity.

Images 3–5: Strip the DC plug cable ends, splice the DC cable to the LED supply wires, and insulate the joints with heat-shrink.

Images 6–7: Secure the spliced connection with tape, reconnect it to the canopy, and remount the LED light bar cover.

Images 8–11: Mark the clip positions, route the cable past the door-frame corner, secure it along the corner post, and press it into the frame edge.

Step 2: Voltage Verification

Images 12–13: Check the voltage at the DC plug connector with a multimeter and confirm the connector polarity.

Images 14–15: Insert the DC connector into the device barrel jack and confirm the red LED indicates power connection.

Step 3: Final Mount

Images 1–2: Clean the door glass at the device mounting location, then peel off the release liner to expose the adhesive surface.

Images 3–4: Align the device with the mounting location and route the cable inside the door gasket.

Images 5–6: Firmly press the device onto the glass, then confirm the final mounting position near the door handle with the camera facing the cooler interior.

caution
  • DC Power Cable: Establish a secure connection during installation. Avoid frequent disconnection and re-insertion of the cable, as it may cause a power surge and potentially damage the device.
