Location Tracking System

How does the location tracking work?

VistaZ uses AGPS (Assisted GPS) technology instead of traditional GPS/GLONASS because satellite signals often perform poorly inside buildings. The system employs:

Technology Stack

  • Google Geolocation API integration
  • Combined cellular (MNC/MCC) and Wi-Fi location data
  • Typical accuracy: within 50 meters for 80%+ of locations with Wi-Fi access

Operational Modes

When Online:

  • Daily pings upload cellular/Wi-Fi information
  • Location data compared against installed position
  • Movement alerts triggered beyond preset threshold (default: 100 meters)

When Offline:

  • "No-Data" alert generated after predefined duration (default: 24 hours)
  • Special handling for edge cases:
    • Extended alert timeframes for marginal signal areas
    • Battery drain alerts when last reported level was < 10%

What are typical location tracking results?

Based on a 30-unit sample study:

Accuracy Breakdown

  • 22 units: Wi-Fi based location (within 200 meters)
  • 4 units: Cellular only (no Wi-Fi access points nearby)
  • 3 units: Cellular only (Wi-Fi access points not in database)
  • 1 unit: No location data available

Recommended Alert Thresholds

  • Wi-Fi-based location: Alert beyond 200 meters
  • Cellular-based location: Alert beyond 2000 meters
  • No location data: Alert suppressed

What challenges exist with location tracking?

Master Data Challenges

  • Client location data often lacks latitude/longitude coordinates
  • Address quality issues:
    • Incorrect or incomplete addresses
    • Unformatted address data
    • Large area locations (e.g., gas stations, superstores) creating precision challenges

Coolr's Solution

  • Automatic latitude/longitude capture during installation
  • Reverse geo-coding for address validation
  • Note: Installation location accuracy can be affected if:
    • Device is initially activated in a warehouse
    • Phone GPS access is restricted during installation

How does Coolr address location tracking challenges?

  • Automated Data Collection

    • Captures installation coordinates automatically
    • Implements reverse geo-coding for validation
    • Maintains location history for verification
  • Smart Alert System

    • Customizable alert thresholds
    • Context-aware notifications
    • Battery and signal strength monitoring
  • Location Verification Process

    • Multi-source data validation
    • Regular accuracy assessments
    • Continuous database updates for Wi-Fi access points
